Orthodontics

A beautiful smile is one of the best investments in self-esteem you can make for your family. Possibilities and objectives of orthodontics actually go beyond a nice smile. Orthodontic treatment plays an important role in improving oral health.Bite defects can create an abnormal wearing of teeth and chewing difficulties. Joint noises and joint pain as well as the headaches that often accompany them can sometimes be due to malpositioned teeth and to overbites. Well aligned teeth are easier to clean, and thus more resistant to decay and less sensitive to gingival problems.

The goal of orthodontic treatment is to reach balance and harmony between the teeth and the face.

Treatment Options for Adults and Teens

Invisalign:

Invisalign is a popular treatment for both teens and adults that involves wearing a series of clear, removable aligners that gradually move your teeth without wires and brackets. Invisalign is a comfortable, affordable and effective way to straighten teeth. Patients do not have to avoid any foods while in treatment because the aligners are removed before eating. Also, it is much easier to keep the teeth clean so the stains around brackets that are a result of poor oral hygiene can be avoided. However, the success of the treatment depends on the patient’s cooperation and using the aligners for at least 22 hours a day. Without compliance, the program will not work as well.

Clear Brackets:

We use a passive self-ligating bracket system that is not only much more aesthetically pleasing than regular braces, but also eliminates the need for elastic or metal ties. Experience the same benefits of treatment with traditional braces without the discomfort that is associated with the pressure of the ties. Clear brackets are smaller than traditional brackets and are designed to be discrete, aesthetic, comfortable, and easy to clean.

Traditional Braces:

Recent improvements in traditional braces have resulted in smaller, stronger, more efficient and less conspicuous braces. Metal brackets are the most commonly used appliances, and offer very effective treatment results.

We offer many different colored ties to choose from, and they can be replaced at every visit. Have fun changing the colors based on what is going on in your life, your favorite sports team or an upcoming holiday.

The dental x-rays we take in our offices are an important part of evaluating your overall oral health. We take and develop them during your visit, so your dentist can immediately see what is happening under the surface of your teeth and gums during treatment.

Retainer is a removable appliance with wires across your teeth. It needs to be worn at night and most of the day and can only perform limited movement of teeth. It can push in one or two teeth and close gaps, but it cannot do any comprehensive realignment of your teeth. It does not rotate teeth, intrude or extrude teeth, nor does it realign all teeth in a very predictable way. It’s a very inexpensive concept and does a great job for the simple alignment issues that most people have. The ideal scenario for this appliance is if one or two teeth are protruding and need to be realigned.
